All symbolic adoptions are lovingly hand-assembled by real humans (not bats… we tried; the whole ‘fruit juice ink’ phase led to sticky thumbs and… well, you know🤷‍♀️). Please allow up to 2 weeks for processing.
 
We are saddened to announce the recent loss of beloved Evening Bat, Chickpea. While we don’t know her exact age, we do know that Chickpea has been a Lubee resident for over 8 years, greatly exceeding the average life expectancy of 5 years.
 
In 2017, Chickpea was brought to a local animal hospital due to a wing injury. This resulted in the amputation of her left wing. Since she could no longer fly or survive on her own in the wild, she came to Lubee where she quickly became a very beloved resident. During her time at Lubee, Chickpea helped numerous people learn about our native bat species and their importance to our ecosystems. She traveled to local libraries, breweries, and schools to help our community learn even more about our backyard neighbors.

In her honor, all remaining Chickpea adoption packages will continue to be offered, with proceeds supporting the care of Lubee’s other incredible residents. Please note that these adoptions will be limited, as we will not be making more of them. We encourage those unable to adopt Chickpea to consider supporting another of her adoptable batty buddies in her honor.
