Better Lives For Bats

In the past year, Lubee has provided homes to numerous bats ranging from non-releasable natives to flying foxes.  Though we are an AZA-accredited home and not a sanctuary, our hearts have always been guided by compassion and we will never turn away a bat in need. Because of your support, every wing that finds its way to Lubee is met with gentle care, a safe place to heal, and the promise of love.

A Commitment To Care

As fewer zoos provide homes for flying foxes and opportunities to see these gentle giants grow scarce, Lubee stands as a haven of love caring - a place where bats are not only safe, but truly cherished.

Every bat has a story, and in this mailing we’re excited to share some heartwarming tales of our new friends and the unique journeys that brought them to their forever home at Lubee.

New Beginnings at Lubee

Meet Some Of The New (and almost new) Arrivals!

Tortilla is a Mexican Free-Tailed Bat who came to us after she was rehabbed following extensive wing damage from a cat.

Ernie, Bert, and their friends are some of the 51 Straw-colored Fruit Bats who felt sunshine and rain for the first time at Lubee.

Ms. Frizzle is one of 16 Rodrigues Fruit Bats who now spend all day with toys they never had before.

Our newest additions!  Meet Tikka and Tofu (and look at those ears).  Tikka came to Lubee and was quickly joined by 11 other Indian Flying Foxes after she was alone.

BABIES ARE ON THE WAY!  This growing baby bump in Annabeth’s belly is one of 5 Malayan Flying Foxes pups on the way.

Please Support A New Bat or Baby On The Way

As part of our Summer Giving Campaign, we’re inviting you to be part of something truly special. As you’ve read in the stories above, we’ve recently welcomed some precious new bats into our care, and they need a little extra love right now. Your gift will go directly toward providing them with nutritious meals, gentle medical care, and a safe, cozy environment to heal and thrive.

Why It Matters

It’s no secret that donations are down across the board, and critical grant funding has significantly decreased. Lubee is also at a critical junction. Although we’ve done wonderful things over the past two years, there has been a concerning decline in donations.
