Burnley will be looking to give their survival bid a further boost by beating Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The general consensus when the Clarets sacked Sean Dyche earlier this month was that the club had made a big mistake. Dyche had worked miracles by keeping Burnley in the Premier League over a number of years, and the squad at his disposal was built in his image. It appeared to be a knee-jerk decision and most fans acted with bewilderment.
Yet although it is still early days, things have gone much better for Burnley than most observers expected. Under the leadership of interim manager Mike Jackson, they have taken seven points from the last nine available.
Burnley are now two points clear of Everton in the battle to avoid the drop. That gap would increase to five if the Clarets are triumphant at Vicarage Road, with Everton not in action until Chelsea visit Goodison Park on Sunday.
If optimism has returned to Turf Moor, it is in short supply at Vicarage Road. Watford have lost each of their last 10 home games. They are now nine points adrift of safety and require a miracle to avoid an immediate return to the Championship following promotion last term.
Watford have generally fared well under the ownership of the Pozzo family, but their penchant for chopping and changing managers on a regular basis has not paid off this season. Roy Hodgson, appointed in January, has been unable to pull the Hornets clear of trouble.
The home team could welcome Francisco Sierralta, Kiko Femenia and Juraj Kucka back into the fold, but Cucho Hernandez will miss out through injury.
Burnley remain without Ben Mee, Erik Pieters, Ashley Westwood and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, while Maxwel Cornet will undergo a late fitness test. Jay Rodriguez is expected to be fit.
Kick-off is at 3pm BST on Saturday 30 April. See below for international broadcast options.
Use a VPN to watch Premier league football from outside your country
If you’re out of the country for a round of Premier League fixtures, then annoyingly your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You'll be blocked from watching it, which is not ideal if you’ve paid up for a subscription and still want to catch the action without resorting to illegal feeds you’ve found on Reddit.
But assistance is on hand. To get around that, all you have to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and won't automatically block the service you've paid for. All the info going between is entirely encrypted – and that's a result.
Watford vs Burnley LIVE: Premier League team news and line-ups from this afternoon’s fixtures
But Watford have plenty to play for themselves, and will hope to end their miserable winless home run to salvage any late hope of avoiding an immediate relegation back to the Championship. Roy Hodgson’s side have lost 10 matches in a row at Vicarage Road - a run dating back to a 4-1 win over Manchester United in October - and another defeat would leave them seven points adrift with just four fixtures remaining.
A Burnley win would also relegate Norwich, if Dean Smith’s side lose to Aston Villa. The Canaries are 10 points adrift of Burnley and relegation would be confirmed if results elsewhere don’t go their way and Smith is defeated by his former side at Villa Park. Meanwhile, Southampton host Crystal Palace and Wolves take on Brighton in mid-table clashes.
