The Lubee Bat Center has offered training courses to zoo technology intern students from Santa Fe Community College and Pensecola State College in Florida, and to veterinary and wildlife students from University of Florida and other Universities. Lubee has held training workshops aimed at zoo, conservation and veterinary professionals. Lubee will offer new training courses and workshops in the future. These will be based on husbandry and research techniques and will be phased in to Lubee programming as they are developed.
The Lubee Bat Center has opened its doors to visits from school children and teachers in Florida and the south east for many years. While renovations to existing facilities are being undertaken, school visits are limited in number. However plans are in progress to offer new and improved programs for school groups and teachers in the future. Programs will include hands-on and minds-on activities for students. These activities will be phased in to Lubee programming as they are developed.
Lubee is a conservation research & training facility, and is not open to the general public on a daily basis. Lubee runs a community open day annually in conjunction with the Natural History Museum in Gainesville. Special tours for fee-paying small groups can be arranged privately through the Director.
