Rodrigues Environmental Education Project (REEP)
The REEP provides complete financial support of an environmental educator on Rodrigues Island (part of the Mascarene Islands located west of Madagascar). REEP’s goals are to provide Rodriguans with opportunities to acquire knowledge, skills, values, and commitment needed to protect and improve the environment. These goals are accomplished by working with community organizations, government departments, schools, and the media. These programs ensure that future generations are instilled with the knowledge to save critically endangered species such as the Rodrigues fruit bat. Since its inception in 1998, REEP has accomplished a number of significant achievements including a curriculum developed in collaboration with the Rodriguan education authority, community-action projects, and NGO collaborative events. Lubee Bat Conservancy contributes $500 annually to REEP and we need your help to accomplish our goal of meeting or exceeding this amount.
