The ‘Bat Zone’ at Lubee is the primary destination for guests visiting our facility. Twelve beautiful enclosures that allow the bats to fly, play, and gorge themselves on their favorite fruits. This complex was built in 1990 and houses 85% of our animals.  Over the years, time has taken a toll, and many are in need of refurbishment. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irma hit Lubee hard, and 3 of the 12 enclosures suffered significant water damage. Record rainfall of over 5’ in the Gainesville area has exasperated the issue.

The Bats at Lubee are the heart and soul of our organization! Thousands of people visit every year to see the largest bats in the world and gain an appreciation for an animal that is so often misunderstood. As we continue to expand the reach of our educational programs, it is imperative that the facility’s overall aesthetics represents Lubee in a manner that reflects our status as a world-renowned conservation and education center. Your generosity will help rebuild our unique facility.

Please consider a one-time or monthly recurring donation.

Your contribution will have a lasting impact on the bats at Lubee. Please consider a donation to our HAPPY HOMES HAPPY BATS CAMPAIGN. The Bats and Lubee staff THANK YOU!
