Regional Conservation Programs

Lubee supports research, conservation and education programs in key regions where fruit and nectar bat diversity is high and is under sever threat, where critically endangered species are threatened, and for gap species and areas that are not included in the conservation planning of larger conservation organizations.

Afrotropics & Western Indian Ocean Islands

Indo Malaya & Philippine Islands

  • Malaysia - Malayan flying fox population status
  • Malaysia - Cynopteris forest bat research
  • Malaysia - Unusual roosting of spotted-wing fruit bats

South East Asia

Global Initiatives

At the heart of conserving bat populations is information about what species are there? How are they doing ? What action can we take together? Dr Kate Jones from Columbia University and Lubee’s Director Dr Allyson Walsh, led a meeting sponsored by Conservation International.
Global Bat Biodiversity Initiative

Bats play vital roles in island and coastal mangrove ecosystems and yet nowhere are fruit and nectar bats more threatened than on islands. Lubee’s new campaign aims to highlight bat conservation issues on islands around the world.
