The bat species housed at Lubee’s Center for Bat Research and Conservation represent a unique collection of species housed in captivity. This collection includes one of the world's largest (1.2 kg, Pteropus vampyrus) and the smallest (180g, Pteropus pumilus) species of the genus Pteropus. Other species housed at the Center include Pteropus rodricensis (one of the most threatened and endangered species of Old-World fruit bats), Pteropus hypomelanus, Rousettus aegyptiacus, Epomophorus wahlbergi, Cynopterus brachyotis, Eidolon helvum and Artibeus lituratus.
